Engineering Development Program (EE)

The Engineering Development Program is designed to train and develop new engineers so that they can do what they do best - build things. We believe it is critical that engineers have a breadth of understanding of the entire engineering process, from initial conception to product launch. Whether you’re a Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to cross-train in a variety of software tools and products. You will gain exposure in the following departments: R&D, Manufacturing/Operations, Quality Assurance, and related departments before settling into your final role. Each rotation will be tailored to your area of expertise to ensure optimal role to personnel fit.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Prior internship or project experience in design or manufacturing engineering
  • Enthusiasm for using technology to improve Public Safety and a real passion for engineering
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical problems in a clear and concise manner
  • Self-starter who is able to solve problems with minimal oversight
  • GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0 (Strong academic performance)


Responsibilities

  • Designing products for mass production
  • Designing circuit boards using Schematic and PCB Design
  • Designing Mixed Signal/Analog Circuit Designs and Analysis
  • Working with OrCAD or comparable schematic tools
  • Debugging circuits in the lab with lab tools, such as oscilloscopes
  • Mapping out test plans and draft test methods
  • Measuring and analyzing test samples for dimensional range/stability
  • Designing Test Fixtures to orientate lens during test procedure and organize/plan the manufacture of fixtures
  • Coordinating resources and materials to build test samples and lead good traceability of samples
  • Validating test methods, execute the full range of testing and organize/collect all data/results from testing
  • Assessing results/data and arrange in format to present numerical/graphical results
  • Researching past testing procedures on TASER CEWS and identify areas of improvement for this battery
  • Identifying key partners for involvement in the creation of the new CEWs battery test procedures
  • Working with key partners to resolve the number of tests for each battery test
  • Designing tests for the following: performance, capacity retention, charge cycle tolerance, high current discharge tolerance, durability, life-time, battery protection circuit resilience, and charger
  • Performing tests and document results, while outlining the test plan
  • Documenting and presenting the test results for the battery, protection circuit, and charger test procedures

Test Audio System On DSP Board (Microphone, CODEC):

  • Understand the audio system to start off
  • Test Firmware
  • Dynamic range
  • AGC
  • Buzzer Interference

Image Test Station:

  • Create Test Station that can accurately control light (low light and bright light) received by sensor
  • TEST
  • Low Lux capabilities of sensor
  • Sensor’s ability to adjust to all light conditions.

Led Lumiance Test Fixture:

  • Develop test xture for measuring the luminance of the LEDs on both the MCU board and
    Sensor Board

Characterize USB:

  • Setup tests to characterize the USB on both the Sensor Board and MCU board
  • TEST
  • Test setup should include ability to gather eye diagram
  • Test inrush current
