When those devices are connected to intelligent cloud platforms like Evidence.com, they can also process license plates, driver's licenses, and even suspects faces to conduct automatic searches and pull up the right data - which means an officer doesn't have to key that data in herself.
And lastly, when a CAD, RMS, and Digital Evidence Management system are seamlessly integrated, the video of that incident forms the heart of the entire record, allowing anyone with access the ability to see and hear exactly what happened at the time. We think of this change as the difference between reading about a football game in the newspaper and watching it on an HD TV - anyone can see for themselves what happened.
Luckily for police, this isn't a matter of science fiction or the movies - all of this technology exists today.
