How TASER Energy Weapons Can Support the Mission of Bail Enforcement Agents
Jul 30, 2020

For Jason, from Northwest Fugitive Investigations, TASER Energy Weapons are a vital, potentially life-saving tool for bail enforcement agents.
A bail enforcement agent’s job can be complex, he said, noting that their industry’s main objective is to find someone who does not want to be found. Bail fugitives can be difficult to track and sometimes try to prevent apprehension at all costs, possibly putting themselves and bail enforcement agents’ lives in jeopardy.
“We’re not trying to hurt someone over a bail bond,” Jason said. “Our ethos, the way we think, we’re working for the co-signer, the person with money on the line.”
But situations can become intense, and when they do, Jason often relies on his TASER Energy Weapon to de-escalate. He has found that simply displaying his TASER Energy Weapon can usually be enough to gain compliance.
“Very rarely do we have to fire probes. Very rarely do we have to drive stun,” he said. “It happens so infrequently, because when we get to the point when we have to use the TASER [device], once that TASER [device] comes out, most people generally comply.”
Jason said that the most common use case for drawing his Energy Weapon is upon entering a home where a subject is known to be in hiding. As he approaches the building, he enters with his TASER Energy Weapon drawn, with its light on, typically followed by a partner drawing his firearm.
He said he feels more confident knowing that in most instances he can rely on a weapon that can help apprehend an individual without incident — and has known other bail enforcement agents who have had to experience the emotional, mental and even financial toll of using lethal force.
Above all, Jason said that having a TASER Energy Weapon helps him do his job effectively and safely, reducing the uncertainty involved with apprehending a fugitive and the odds that a fugitive acts recklessly.
