Release and Warning Requirements

Bulletin 20.0-01 | Effective 03-01-2016
Print this bulletin

Background: In an effort to produce and maintain the best customer experience possible, TASER International is constantly self-assessing its own processes and procedures.

Thus, the following changes will take effect as of March 1st, 2016 regarding Instructor and User: Warnings, Risks & Release Agreement (e.g., the "release"); and the TASER Handheld CEW Warnings, Instructions, and Information: Law Enforcement (e.g. the "warnings").

  1. Release: Students attending TASER End-User and Basic Instructor certification courses will no longer be required to sign the release unless they are receiving a voluntary exposure as part of that certification training. TASER Advanced and Master Instructor students will be required to sign the release because an exposure is mandated as part of that certification process
  2. Warning Acknowledgement: Students attending TASER End-User and Basic Instructor certification courses will be required to sign an acknowledgement that they have read and understand the warnings prior to participating in any hands-on CEW drills required by the certification course. This requirement has been in place for several years. However, TASER International is now formalizing the student's receipt of the warnings via signature.
  3. Revised Forms: These changes will affect several documents from Version 20: specifically the V20 End-User Certification Form, V20 End-User Certification Requirements, V20 Instructor Certification Form, V20 Release, and V20 Warnings. Updated copies of all these Version 20 documents can be found on the Training Resources page.
