Ericsson NetCloud Federal Hosted by Axon, delivers Wireless WAN with 5G/LTE connectivity, purpose-built for mission-critical government public safety operations
The platform is designed to reduce IT overhead and complexity while supporting FedRAMP High compliance
The solution provides simplified deployment, configuration, and management of in-vehicle routers for public safety fleets
May 12, 2026 - BOISE, Idaho — Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC) today announced the launch of Ericsson NetCloud Federal Hosted by Axon, a dedicated offering of the NetCloud Wireless WAN solution purpose-built for government public safety fleets. The solution enables federal agencies to rapidly deploy and scale wireless networks, while helping ensure end-to-end FedRAMP security authorization and streamlining security assessment and onboarding, reducing the time and cost of adoption and ongoing operations.
Delivered through global public safety technology leader, Axon's FedRAMP-authorized cloud platform, the solution further strengthens secure, compliant 5G/LTE connectivity for ruggedized in-vehicle routers, enabling the always-on, mission-critical connectivity that powers Axon Fleet 3 and other public safety technologies in the field. Ericsson NetCloud Federal gives government fleet operators a single, centralized platform to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot in-vehicle networks at scale.
Public safety organizations and federal agencies need reliable, resilient, always-available connectivity to support mission-critical operations. Disruptions can compromise efficiencies and put operations at risk, impacting response and coordination in the field. At the same time, agencies must address an evolving cyber threat landscape, deploying solutions that meet government security requirements, including FedRAMP and FIPS.
Ericsson NetCloud Federal provides a centralized platform to manage networks across vehicle fleets. It is authorized at FedRAMP High status (soon to be Class D), the federal government's rigorous cloud security baseline — aligned to approximately 450 security controls to protect sensitive, mission-critical data. Select Ericsson Cradlepoint routers have also achieved FIPS 140-3 certifications.
With FedRAMP High status, agencies can use NetCloud Federal to efficiently deploy and scale their networks through a standardized security authorization. Beyond centralized management, this platform enables simplified configuration, along with real-time monitoring and troubleshooting for ruggedized, FIPS 140-3 compliant routers. These capabilities accelerate critical deployments, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance network resilience.
Blake Bullock, Vice President of Product Management, Axon: “Hosting Ericsson NetCloud Federal on Axon’s FedRAMP-authorized cloud platform delivers mission-critical connectivity for federal and public safety fleets while meeting the strictest government security standards. Together, we are delivering advanced cloud management of Ericsson and Axon devices for Fleet 3 deployments, helping keep teams connected, operational, and secure in the moments that matter.”
Pankaj Malhotra, Head of Product and Engineering, Enterprise Wireless Solutions, Ericsson: “For federal agencies, secure connectivity is just the starting point — what matters is enabling reliable, mission‑critical field operations. Ericsson’s FedRAMP solution delivers advanced cloud management for in‑vehicle environments, helping agencies operate with confidence while meeting rigorous federal security and compliance requirements.”
For over 10 years, Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions (formerly Cradlepoint) and Axon have partnered to deploy joint solutions supporting thousands of public safety and enterprise customers worldwide. From major metropolitan police departments in the United States to regional law enforcement agencies in the UK, organizations rely on these solutions to power mission-critical field operations where reliability and real-time data matter most.
