Calgary Police Service expands community communication with Real-Time Translation on Axon Body 4

Calgary Police Service (CPS) has become the first police service in Canada to deploy Axon Assistant's Real-Time Translation capability on Axon Body 4 cameras, helping officers communicate more effectively with community members who speak different languages.

Supporting more than 50 languages, the feature enables secure, two-way conversations directly through an officer's body-worn camera, helping bridge language barriers during everyday interactions and initial response situations.

As Calgary Police Service noted, the technology is designed to "quickly bridge language barriers during traffic stops, routine calls and everyday interactions with the public." By providing "immediate, basic understanding," the feature helps "reduce misunderstandings, supports de-escalation and builds trust with Calgary's diverse communities."

Integrated directly into Axon Body 4 as part of Axon Assistant, Real-Time Translation is intended for routine, low-risk interactions and records translated conversations alongside video evidence, supporting transparency and accountability while helping officers communicate more effectively with the people they serve.

Axon is proud to support Calgary Police Service as it deploys Real-Time Translation to help bridge language barriers across the city. With more than one million uses by over 500 agencies, Axon Assistant is helping public safety organizations strengthen communication, build trust and better serve the diverse communities they protect.
