Whenever natural disaster strikes, Axon is proud to join forces in support of first responders and their communities. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, the Axon Aid team has deployed resources and teams of volunteers with supplies to support first responders impacted by the storm.

The Axon Aid emergency response drone team has deployed by request to assist local police departments in immediate response and recovery needs. We plan to send in additional refresh teams to expand and prolong support, dependent on needs.

Additionally, Axon is proud to be joining forces in recovery efforts with the National Fraternal Order of Police, the world’s largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers with more than 364,000 members, for disaster response. The national FOP has staged one of its disaster assistance recovery teams in North Carolina. That team consists of 30 volunteers and two tractor trailers: one is a mobile kitchen, and the other carries supplies. In the aftermath of Ian, the team went into the areas hardest hit to support law enforcement officers and their families affected by the hurricane. This includes making sure first responders have shelter, food, and clothing. Axon has committed financial resources to ensure the volunteer teams have the supplies they need to support officers impacted by this historic storm.

“We are proud to partner with the National Fraternal Order of Police to provide support and aid to agencies during times of need,” says Axon CEO and founder, Rick Smith. “At Axon, we have the tools to help and we want to be able to offer those tools when they can be most impactful — including our team of volunteers who deployed on a moment’s notice to provide emergency aid. We continue to be incredibly humbled by the opportunity to work alongside so many great organizations and first responders to protect life.”

About Axon Aid:

Axon’s philanthropic arm, Axon Aid, supports first responders and their communities in many ways. One of Axon Aid’s major efforts is to deploy an emergency response team to cities following large-scale disasters. The team consists of trained Axon volunteers, equipped with drone technology and Axon Fleet vehicles, who deploy before a natural disaster hits. Following a natural disaster such as flooding, hurricanes and earthquakes, it can be difficult for a city to gain visibility into exactly where the damage has occurred and what fixes are needed to get infrastructure back up and running. The drone technology offered through the Axon Aid program assists officials in quickly gathering situational awareness as well as helping search and rescue efforts with aerial live-streaming to help identify those in need of rescue and aid.
