Axon Cloud — Customer FAQ

About This Document

This FAQ supports the June 2026 Axon Cloud announcement. Throughout this document, "Axon Cloud" refers to the cloud infrastructure and services powering Axon's product suite. "Axon Evidence" is the specific product most agencies access daily — previously found at evidence.com. This document is intended for agency administrators, IT teams, and Customer Success conversations. Questions are grouped by topic.

Section 1: Overview

Why is Axon making these changes?

Axon is strengthening the infrastructure that powers Axon Cloud to keep pace with the growing demands of public safety agencies. Evidence volumes are increasing, AI-powered workflows are becoming core to how agencies operate, and the threat landscape for cloud services continues to evolve. These investments improve long-term reliability, resilience, and scalability — and expand the foundation Axon needs to bring new capabilities to agencies faster and more safely.

What is changing for my agency?

Three categories of change are being introduced in 2026:

1. Infrastructure improvements: Axon is expanding how storage and computing resources are distributed across our cloud providers to improve reliability and support AI-intensive workflows such as transcription and video analysis. These changes are designed to be invisible to agencies — what you should notice is higher capacity, improved performance, and better availability.

2. A new web address: Access to Axon Evidence services will begin transitioning from evidence.com to a new address under axon.com. Existing evidence.com bookmarks and links will continue working through automatic redirects, so most users will not notice any disruption. Agencies with network access controls (such as domain allowlists or DNS filtering) may need their IT teams to make configuration updates before the migration affects them.

3. Passkeys (optional): Axon is introducing Passkeys as a new, optional sign-in option that administrators can enable for their agency. Passkeys support biometric sign-in on compatible devices. No change to your current sign-in experience will occur unless your admins choose to configure Passkeys.

What is staying the same?

The key things your agency depends on are not changing: your data stays where it has always been, governed by the same policies your agency agreed to. Existing integrations, APIs, and connected systems are not affected. All changes will be deployed in phases with controlled rollback capability. Your Customer Success Manager, support tier, and points of contact remain in place.

Section 2: Data, Security, and Compliance

Will our data stay in the United States?

Yes. Axon will maintain U.S. data residency restrictions for applicable U.S. customer workloads as part of this transition. Your evidence stays where it has always been, governed by the same data processing and privacy policies your agency agreed to in our Axon Cloud Services Privacy Notice. Those commitments are not changing.

Is Axon reducing security or compliance requirements?

No. These changes are designed to improve reliability and security while preserving the controls your agency depends on. Axon’s infrastructure decisions are made with the intent of meeting or exceeding our existing compliance posture across all applicable requirements. If your agency has specific compliance questions, your Customer Success Manager or support team can connect you with Axon’s compliance team or point you to the Axon Trust Center (https://trust.axon.com).

What is Axon’s commitment to CJIS compliance?

Axon is committed to meeting the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy requirements of all applicable customers. The 2026 Axon Cloud updates are designed to improve reliability and security while preserving the strong controls that CJIS-covered agencies rely on. For specific questions on how Axon’s infrastructure supports CJIS requirements, the Axon CJIS Security Policy companion document provides additional detail — ask your Customer Success Manager or support team for access. For broader compliance documentation, visit the Axon Trust Center (https://trust.axon.com).

Section 3: Domain Migration (Evidence.com → Axon.com)

Why is the web address changing?

Axon is converging its products under a single, consistent domain — axon.com. This makes it easier for agencies to manage network security policies, consolidates how Axon’s products are accessed, and creates a more unified experience as Axon’s product portfolio continues to expand. The transition from evidence.com to axon.com does not affect what Axon Evidence does or how your agency uses it.

Will existing bookmarks or workflows break?

No. Existing evidence.com bookmarks and links will continue working through automatic redirects. Officers and staff who access Axon Evidence through saved bookmarks or direct URLs will be redirected seamlessly to the new address. No manual updates to bookmarks are required for end users.

Note: Agencies that have configured network access controls — such as domain allowlists, IP allowlists, DNS filtering, proxies, or SSL inspection — may need their IT teams to add the new axon.com addresses to their configuration. See “Does my agency need to take any IT action?” below.

Are U.S. Federal Region customers affected by the domain change?

No. The 2026 rollout covers Axon U.S. State and Local Government customers. More information about rollout timing for Axon U.S. Federal Region customers will be shared later in 2026. U.S. Federal Region customers do not need to take any action at this time.

What about international customers?

No. The 2026 rollout covers Axon U.S. State and Local Government customers. More information about rollout timing for Axon international regions will be shared later in 2026. International customers do not need to take any action at this time.

Does my agency need to update our SSO configuration (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID or Okta)?

Not in 2026. SSO configuration changes to support the new axon.com domain are optional this year. Your existing SSO setup will continue to work as-is. If SSO reconfiguration for the new domain becomes required in the future, Axon will provide advance notice and step-by-step guidance well before any action is required in your environment.

Section 4: IT and Network Configuration

Does my agency need to take any IT action?

For most agencies, no action is required. End users will experience a seamless transition to the new web address through automatic redirects.

However, if your agency controls which websites and services your network is permitted to reach — for example, using approved domain lists, DNS filters, or firewall rules — your IT team may need to add the new axon.com addresses before the migration reaches your organization. Specifically, if any of the following apply, your IT team should review the guidance below:

  • Domain or IP allowlists (approved lists that control which addresses your network can reach)

  • DNS filtering

  • Proxy servers

  • SSL inspection

  • Firewall rules tied to specific domains or IP addresses

Axon is providing a self-service connectivity test at status.evidence.com/status/network (status.evidence.com/status/network) that walks IT teams through each relevant check and identifies whether any updates are needed. Detailed technical guidance on network configuration requirements is available at axon.com/help → IT and Network (https://www.axon.com/help/admin-and-it/software/admin-and-it/it-and-network/network-allowlists.htm).

How will we know when the migration is happening for our agency?

Axon is rolling out these changes in phases, starting with agencies whose network configurations are compatible with the new domain without any changes. Agencies that use network restrictions will be migrated in a separate, later phase, and will receive proactive outreach from Axon before any changes affect their environment. Your Customer Success Manager or support team will be your point of contact for questions specific to your agency’s readiness and timing.

When will these changes roll out to our agency?

Initial rollout begins in the U.S. later this summer. Agencies with open network configurations (no domain or IP restrictions) will be migrated first. Agencies that use network restrictions will follow in a later phase, with proactive outreach from your Customer Success Manager or support team before anything changes in your environment.

More information on rollout timing for international and U.S. Federal regions will be shared later in 2026.

Section 5: Passkeys and Sign-In

What are Passkeys and does my agency need to do anything?

Passkeys are a new, optional sign-in method that Axon is introducing in 2026. They allow users to sign in using biometric authentication (such as Face ID or fingerprint) on supported devices. Passkeys are designed to be more secure than traditional passwords — they cannot be guessed, reused, or stolen the way passwords can.

Passkeys are recommended, but admin-controlled — your agency decides whether and when to enable them. Your current sign-in experience will not change unless your administrators choose to configure Passkeys. MFA remains required across Axon Cloud regardless of whether Passkeys are enabled.

Will MFA (multi-factor authentication) still be required?

Yes. MFA remains required across Axon Cloud. The introduction of Passkeys does not change the MFA requirement. Passkeys are an additional sign-in option, not a replacement for Axon’s existing authentication requirements.

Section 6: Features and Integrations

Will these changes affect the features available to our agency?

For most agencies, these infrastructure improvements will be invisible. Existing capabilities are not being removed or changed as part of this work. Over time, some new AI-enabled features may depend on the expanded infrastructure — agencies whose IT configuration changes are still pending may not have immediate access to those capabilities. Your Customer Success Manager or support team can help you understand if any specific upcoming capabilities are relevant to your agency’s readiness.

Will our existing integrations and APIs continue to work?

Yes. Existing integrations, APIs, and connected systems are not affected by these infrastructure changes. If your agency has custom integrations or automated workflows that connect directly to evidence.com addresses, your IT team should review the network configuration guidance (https://www.axon.com/help/admin-and-it/software/admin-and-it/it-and-network/network-allowlists.htm) to confirm whether any updates are needed — but any such updates are about the web address only, not the underlying API behavior, which remains the same.

Will Axon field devices (cameras, Tasers, in-car systems) be affected?

Axon is coordinating the rollout to account for how field devices communicate with Axon Cloud. Axon will provide specific guidance for device-related updates if any action is required. No device configuration changes will be pushed to your agency without advance notice. Your Customer Success Manager or support team and Axon Support are available to assist with any device-related questions.

Section 7: Support and Next Steps

Where can I find more information for my IT team?

Two resources are available specifically for IT administrators:

  • Self-service connectivity test: status.evidence.com/status/network — walks your IT team through the relevant network checks and identifies whether any configuration updates are needed for your specific environment.

  • Detailed network configuration guidance: axon.com/help → IT and Network — covers domain and IP allowlist requirements, proxy configuration, and DNS filtering guidance.

For questions that go beyond what these self-service resources can answer, your Customer Success Manager or support team is available to help.

Who should our agency contact if we have questions?

Your Customer Success Manager is your primary point of contact for questions about how these changes apply to your agency’s specific configuration, compliance posture, or readiness. For agencies without a dedicated Customer Success Manager, Axon Support can assist. For technical support questions during or after the transition, your existing support tier and contact information have not changed.

Will Axon notify our agency before any changes affect our environment?

Yes. Axon is deploying these changes in phases, and agencies whose network configurations require updates will be contacted proactively before any migration is applied to their organization. No disruptive changes will be made to your environment without advance notice. Rollout phases include controlled rollback capability, and agencies can coordinate with Axon if they need additional time to prepare.
