Network diagnostic
Axon Network Diagnostics is a browser-based tool that helps you quickly check whether your network is ready for Axon devices and services, and troubleshoot common networking issues. It is focused on Axon device connectivity, but can detect other network issues as well.
The tool runs entirely in your browser. You don’t need to install any software or connect a camera.
Recommended use: Run Axon Network Diagnostics before deploying new hardware, when you see camera connectivity issues (registration, upload, livestream), or when Axon Support asks you to collect diagnostics.
We also recommend your network allowlist includes the domains and IP addresses found in Network allowlists.
Tests included
The exact set of tests might change over time. It currently includes:
-
Network reachability
-
Checks that your browser can reach the internet.
-
Typical output: “Browser reports online status”.
-
-
API reachability
-
Verifies that browser requests to important Axon APIs succeed.
-
Helps identify firewall, proxy, or routing issues affecting access to Axon APIs.
-
-
Upload test
-
Uploads a small test file to Axon services.
-
Estimates upstream bandwidth.
-
-
Download test
-
Downloads a small test file from Axon services.
-
Estimates downstream bandwidth.
-
-
Livestream diagnostics (requires sign-in)
-
Runs a short diagnostic path used for livestream.
-
Helps detect basic issues reaching livestream-related services.
-
The tool runs inside your browser and cannot detect low-level issues on the camera hardware or firmware. It is a fast pre-check for your network, not a complete device diagnostic.
Requirements
To use Axon Network Diagnostics, you need:
-
A computer or mobile device connected to the same network segment as your Axon devices
-
A modern web browser:
-
Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Safari
-
-
JavaScript enabled in your browser
-
(Optional but recommended) An Axon account with access to your agency
-
Signing in enables additional tests such as Livestream
-
Accessing Axon Network Diagnostics
Open a supported web browser on a device connected to your agency’s network, and go to:
https://status.<your-regional-evidence-base>/status/network
Examples:
-
For the US law enforcement region -
https://status.evidence.com/status/network -
For Canada -
https://status.ca.evidence.com/status/network
You’ll see the Axon Network Diagnostics page with several test cards and buttons to run tests. The tool behaves slightly differently depending on whether you are signed in.
Not signed in (unauthenticated mode)
You can run a limited set of tests that do not require access to agency-specific data, including basic connection tests to Axon endpoints, and other tests that don't require authentication.
A message will indicate more tests are available via logging in.
Signed in (authenticated mode)
After you sign in more tests become available. You can use the sign in link on the page, or sign in to Axon Evidence and then return to the diagnostic page.
The page will update to show all available tests. Currently, the only test requiring sign in is Livestream diagnostics, but more tests might be added in the future.
Running tests
Choose Run All to do all tests, or Run next to a single test to run it alone.
Each test you run updates with:
-
Status - Success or Failure
-
A short description of what was tested
-
Additional technical details (for Support or IT)
Tip: If you change anything on your network (firewall rule, DNS, VPN, etc.), run the tests again to compare results.
Results
Each test card displays a status and details.
Download and share results
-
After running tests, select Download Log (either for an individual test, or for the entire set)
-
Save the file to your computer.
-
Attach the file when:
-
Opening a support case with Axon
-
Working with Axon Professional Services or your TAM
-
Sharing information with your internal IT team
-
The logs include:
-
Which tests ran and their statuses
-
Error messages or unreachable endpoints (if any)
-
Basic timing and throughput information
Limitations
Axon Network Diagnostics:
-
Runs in your browser and does not have access to the camera’s internal firmware or low-level network stack.
-
Cannot detect hardware or OS-level issues on cameras (for example, NIC compatibility, MTU mismatches, or DHCP MAC filtering).
-
Does not send or process video/audio evidence. Only connectivity and performance metadata is used for diagnostics.
Use this tool alongside device logs and Axon Support guidance for full troubleshooting.
