What are License Tiers?

License Tiers is the new system for managing Evidence.com licenses at your agency, as well as storage allocation. There are three tiers:

  • Lite: Free of charge but with limited feature access. Designed for users who only need to upload and manage CEW firing logs.
  • Basic: A paid tier with access to most Evidence.com features.
  • Pro: A paid tier with access to advanced tools, features, and permissions.

Most users at your agency will fall into the Basic and Pro tiers. Users who only need CEW management and TASER CAM evidence management can be assigned to the free Lite tier.

Which features are available in Lite, Basic, and Pro?

The following information provides an overview of the tools, features, and storage available under each tier:

Note: Non-paid licenses (Lite Users and Lite Armorers) are limited to CEW management and TASER CAM evidence management.

Additional Information on License Tiers

Additional a la carte storage and unlimited storage plans are available for an additional monthly fee:

  • Under the Pro Plan: Axon Community Request+ is not included with Axon Community Request and must be purchased separately if desired.
  • Applies to 5-year contracts only.
  • Unlimited Third-Party Plans must be bundled with Unlimited BWC + Capture plans.

What is the License Tiers Configuration Mode?

The License Tiers Configuration Mode allows your agency time to reconfigure roles and move users as needed. During this mode, license tier rules are not enforced, giving you time to make changes. Contact your Axon representative for more information on the duration of your agency's Configuration Mode.

How do I see the number of licenses my agency has purchased?

Administrators can view the number of licenses purchased on the Dashboard in Evidence.com. The license information is displayed prominently at the top of the Dashboard, showing the number of available licenses for each paid tier above the total number of licenses purchased for that tier.

The same license counters also appear on the Roles page. Users in the Lite tier do not appear in the license counters because their licenses are free.

How do I determine whether a user on Evidence.com is Pro, Basic, or Lite?

To determine a user’s tier:

  1. Go to the All Users search page.
  2. Search for the user and check the information in the Tier column.

Roles are associated with tiers, and you can search for the number of users assigned to a role:

  1. In the Role drop-down menu, select a role. The tier associated with each role is shown in parentheses next to the role name.
  2. Click Search to see a list of all users assigned to that role.

How do I change a user's role?

You can change a user’s role from the User Search page or their User Profile:

From User Search
  1. On the menu bar, select Admin, and then under Users, select All Users.
  2. Enter the user's name and click Search.
  3. Select the check box next to the user’s name.
  4. Click Update Role.
  5. Select a new role from the drop-down menu and click OK.
From User Profile
  1. Select the user’s name anywhere in Evidence.com to open their User Profile. This page displays the user’s information, uploads, assigned devices, and groups.
  2. Click Manage User in the upper-right corner of the page.
  3. Under Account Details, use the drop-down menu near the bottom of the page to select a new role for the user. The tier associated with the role is shown in parentheses.
  4. Click Save.

How do I fix the following errors?

Error: License limit reached

This error appears when there are not enough licenses available in the Pro or Basic tier to complete the action. You may need to move users out of a role to make room for new users or purchase additional licenses for that tier.

Error: Could not complete upload of members and monitors

Only users in Pro tier roles can be set as monitors of groups. Verify that all users being set as monitors are assigned to Pro tier roles. Additionally, ensure that members of groups monitoring other groups are in Pro tier roles.

Groups page: Only users in Pro roles can add monitors or be monitors of a group.

Pro tier users are the only ones who can act as monitors or assign others as monitors. Confirm that all users assigned as monitors are in Pro tier roles.

Glossary

  • Basic tier: The lower of the two paid tiers. Basic tier users upload and manage digital evidence but do not have access to advanced features like Automated Redaction or Group Monitoring.
  • License: Allows a user to access Evidence.com in a Basic or Pro capacity. License counters are shown on the Dashboard and Roles page for tracking. Lite tier users do not count toward your agency's total licenses.
  • License tier: Refers to the Basic or Pro tier.
  • Lite tier: A free tier for users who only need to upload and manage CEW Firing Logs. Unlimited Lite tier users can be added without counting toward your agency's total licenses.
  • Permission Setting: A set of controls associated with permissions listed on the Create/Edit Role page. Some permissions require specific conditions to be met, such as being in the Pro tier or enabling related permissions.
  • Pro tier: The higher of the two paid tiers. Pro tier users have access to advanced features such as Automated Redaction, Group Monitoring, Agency Analytics, and Human Transcription Services.
