Download transcripts

You can download a transcript as a Word document (DOCX) and set options to customize the appearance of the downloaded transcript from the Transcription Assistant. Transcripts can also be downloaded in bulk.

To download the transcript, open the evidence and select Download > Transcript. You can also download by opening Transcription Assistant and selecting Download.

Formatting options

The following information is displayed at the top of the document, before the transcript text begins:

  • Evidence title
  • Verification status
    • Last edited by (for unverified transcripts)
    • Verified by (for verified transcripts)
  • Transcript start date/time and length

You can download a formatted transcript using the formatting options listed below or an unformatted transcript. If you do not select any of the formatting options, the transcript downloads as a block of "raw" text. Although the transcript body is unformatted, the header information, including the transcript verification status, is formatted.

You can adjust the following transcript formatting options.

 

Line number format

Sets if each line in the transcript is labeled with a number. Choose from:

  • No line numbers
  • Restart on each page: The first line on each page restarts at "1".
  • Continuous: The first line of the transcript is "1", and the numbers continue until the end of the transcript.

Line spacing

Sets the amount of space between lines. Choose from:

  • Single space
  • 1.5 lines
  • Double space

Indentation

Sets if the transcription text is indented. Choose from:

  • No indentation
  • First line
  • Hanging

Show timestamps

When selected, timestamps appear above the speaker label. You can choose between three timestamp display options:

  • Time of day and elapsed time (4:07 PM / 00:03:20)
  • Time of day (4:07 PM)
  • Elapsed time (00:03:20)

Show page numbers

When selected, a page number appears in the bottom right corner of each page.

Include line breaks between speaker blocks

Sets if a line break is included between speakers.

Include vocal sounds

If there are non-word vocal sounds, such as laughing or inaudible sounds, words are included in angle brackets (e.g., <laugh>,<inaudible>), indicating the non-word audio is present at that point in the transcript.

 

Bold speaker names

When selected, speaker names are bolded.

Colon after speaker names

When selected, a colon (:) appears after the speaker name. If Bold speaker names is selected, the colon is also bolded.

Bulk download

When you download multiple pieces of evidence at the same time (bulk download), you can include Auto-Transcripts in the download. To do this:

  1. Select multiple pieces of evidence to download.
  2. Select More Actions [...] > Download.
  3. Check the Transcripts checkbox and adjust other bulk download settings as needed.
  4. Select Download.

Download for basic roles

If you have a Basic license, you can download Auto-Transcripts from the Transcript tab below the media player on the evidence detail page.
