Bulk actions

Bulk add or remove evidence categories

You can add or remove categories from up to 100 evidence files from the Evidence search page.

  • If a user does not have permission to apply the Restricted or Confidential access class to evidence (controlled via the user's roles and permissions), then they won't be able to assign categories that apply to the access class change to evidence. Users applying categories using Axon mobile or desktop apps are not restricted from assigning categories.

A category name can be up to 50 alphanumeric characters.

Note

If mandatory notes are enabled, you can bulk add, but can't bulk remove categories. You will only be able to individually remove categories from the evidence details page. Disabling mandatory notes will allow you to bulk remove categories.

Bulk video redaction

Public disclosure requests can be time consuming, especially when large volumes of videos must be reviewed and potentially redacted. To aid with these large requests, the Bulk Redaction feature allows you to queue video evidence for bulk redaction.

Bulk redaction creates a copy of the original video and applies a blur filter over the entire copied video. It can also remove audio for the duration of that copy as well. The blur over the entire video allows requester to see what happened in the video without potentially revealing personally identifiable details such as faces, addresses, or license plates. This presents an opportunity for agencies to fulfill the public disclosure request in the least amount of time.

It is recommended that you verify bulk-redacted videos to ensure the proper level of blur is applied prior to releasing the redacted videos.

If you need to redact a video more precisely, such as redacting only a portion of each video frame, see Redaction Studio Quick Start Guide.

  1. Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence files you wish to include in the bulk redaction.
  2. For each video evidence file that you want to redact, select the check box next to the evidence ID. If you want to redact all evidence shown in search results, select the top check boxs.
  3. SelectMore Actions (...), and then select Redact.
  4. In the Configure your bulk redaction window, choose from the following options:
    1. Download Format: Select Zip or ISO. Choosing an ISO allows you to create a CD-ROM or DVD.
    2.  Blur Level: Select Low, Medium, or High to set the degree of blurring.
    3. Redact Audio: Turn on to remove all audio from the redacted video files.
  5. Select Redact.
  6. In the confirmation window, select OK.

When the bulk redaction is complete, you'll receive an email with a download link. Select the link to open or download the file, (the exact behavior depends on your browser). You may be asked to sign in.

Bulk action errors and reports

When a bulk action fails, an error report details the action, affected evidence, and reason for failure. Errors may appear in different places:

  • On the evidence search page: If Axon Evidence is still open to the evidence search page at the time an error occurs, a popup window appears with details about the error. Select view the list to retry to go to the error report page where you can view details about the error and retry the bulk action.
  • In your email confirmation: If an error occurs, a link to the error report is included in the email you receive after the bulk action is complete.

To view error reports at any time, select View error reports from the dashboard. The error report page displays a list of bulk action failures from the past 7 days. From the error report page, you can:

  • Filter by Failure Reason: Select a filter to narrow the list by the specific reason for failure. If a failure is due to a permission issue, you can request permission directly from here.
  • Re-attempt bulk actions: Retry bulk actions or resolve metadata issues directly from the error report page.
  • View evidence: Select evidence in the error report list to go to the evidence detail page.
