Image Tools
Image evidence files are still images such as scanned photographs, digital pictures, and screen shots. Axon Evidence provides media tools for working with these files. You can crop, rotate, and adjust the brightness and contrast of images. From a photo edit, you can extract a new image that incorporates the edits while leaving the original image file unaltered.
Get started with photo editing
- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence file you want to work with.
- Select the title of the evidence to open it in the evidence details page.
- Below the video player, select the Edits tab. If any image edits already exist, they are listed here. From here you can:
- Create a new photo edit: Select New photo edit (pencil button).
- Edit an existing photo edit: Locate the existing edit you wish to modify, and then select Edit (pencil button) next to the photo edit name.
- Use the image tools to change the photo as needed.
- Select Done to save your photo edit.
After editing your photo, you may want to extract the edited image:
- Locate the photo edit you wish to extract.
- Select Extract next to the photo edit name, and then select OK in the confirmation window. You'll receive an email notification when your extraction request is ready to view. Once a photo edit is extracted you can access it in Axon Evidence.
- Select Expand (plus button) next to the photo edit name.
- Select Download to download the extracted image to your device, or select View to view the extracted evidence within Axon Evidence.
Find your way around image tools
- Rotate: Select Rotate to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise. You can continue rotating the image until it's in the desired position.
- Crop: Select Crop to place a cropping frame over the image.
- Cropping frame: Select and drag anywhere within the frame to move it to the area of the image you wish to keep.
- Cropping handle: Select and drag this handle to resize the cropping area.
- Brightness slider: Adjust the brightness of the image by sliding the handle left or right.
- Contrast slider: Adjust the contrast of the image by sliding the handle left or right.
Details about extracted images
- Extracting an edited image creates a new image evidence file that reflect the specific edits made during the photo edit process.
- Extracted images inherit the case IDs, categories, tags, and evidence location of the original image, ensuring proper association with the correct cases and adherence to applicable evidence retention policies.
- You can extract an edited image from a photo multiple times, with each extraction creating a new image file.
- If the title of the photo edit is the same, each extracted image file will have an identical title, appended with 'Extraction,' followed by a sequential number, to help distinguish between multiple extractions of the same photo edit.
