Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What type of video files can I stitch together?
Axon Evidence supports various video file formats, including MP4, MOV, MPEG, and more. For a comprehensive list of all supported video formats, refer to Supported File Types.
If your videos have been converted, and are playable in Axon Evidence, you can stitch them together. Learn more about Third-party video support.
Who can use video stitching?
Video stitching is available to users with Viewing and Editing evidence permission if your agency uses Third-Party Video. Video Stitching is accessible from Review Mode.
Is the stitched video stored and search-able, or only available via the email link?
The new video will be extracted as a new piece of evidence. The new evidence details page will be attached to the email if the stitching process is successful. Once a stitched video is created, it will also become search-able.
Is there any impact to the original videos after stitching them together?
No, the original videos belonging to the selected evidence are not affected by the process of video stitching. Video stitching creates a new video as a new piece of evidence.
What are the sharing capabilities for stitched videos?
Users can share stitched videos based on the restrictions placed on the evidence that is selected for stitching. If any selected evidence is restricted, then the new video will also be set as Restricted. Otherwise, videos will be Unrestricted by default.
What happens if a user selects non-video evidence for stitching?
If non-video evidence is selected during the video stitching process, a pop-up message will remind users that only video evidence can be stitched together. This message includes a list of any non-video evidence they selected that will be excluded from the stitched video, and gives them the option to go back.
Can you tell which evidence was used to create a new video after it’s been stitched?
Yes, audit trail activity is logged to the selected pieces of evidence used for video stitching in the newly created evidence. You can download the audit trail to view the details and find related evidence as needed. Audit trail activity is also visible in the evidence that was selected for stitching.
