Sensitive content warnings
The Content Warning feature in Axon Evidence helps users manage and review sensitive or graphic evidence. When applied, the content warning blurs images or videos and displays a warning, ensuring users are not unexpectedly exposed to distressing content.
Assign content warning roles and permissions
- Select Admin.
- Under User Management, select Roles & Permissions.
- Locate the role you want to update, and then select Edit role (pencil) under the Actions column.
- Scroll down to the Evidence Management section.
- Locate the Manage Content Warning Flag option.
- Select Allowed to enable this permission for the role.
- Select Save.
Add a content warning
Add a content warning from the evidence search page
- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence.
- Use the checkboxes next to each piece of evidence to select the items you want to flag with a content warning.
- To select all items in your search results, select the top checkbox next to the ID column.
- Select Edit Metadata, then select Add content warning.
- The content warning is applied to the selected evidence.
Add a content warning from the evidence details page
- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence you need.
- Select the evidence you want to flag with a content warning to open it in the evidence detail page.
- Select Add Content Warning (eye button). The Content Warning button changes to red with a line through it, and the content warning is applied to the evidence.
Add a content warning from review mode
- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence.
- Use the checkboxes next to each piece of evidence to select the items you want to open in review mode.
- Select Review on the action bar to open the evidence in review mode.
- Select Add Content Warning (eye button).
- The Content Warning button changes to red with a line through it, and the content warning is applied to the evidence.
Remove a content warning
Remove a content warning from the evidence search page
- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence.
- Use the checkboxes next to each piece of evidence to select the items from which you want to remove content warnings. To select all items in your search results, select the top checkbox next to the ID column.
- Select Edit Metadata, then select Remove content warning.
- The content warning is removed from the selected evidence.

- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence.
- Select the evidence you want to remove content warnings from to open it in the evidence detail page.
- Select Remove Content Warning (eye button).
- The content warning is removed from the evidence.
Remove a content warning from review mode
- Select Evidence, and then search for the evidence.
- Use the checkboxes next to each piece of evidence to select the items you want to open in review mode
- Note: To review all evidence in your search results, select Review All On Page.
- Select Review to open the evidence in review mode.
- Select Remove Content Warning (eye button).
- The content warning is removed from the evidence.
View evidence with a content warning
When you choose to Show Evidence for content flagged with a content warning, the warning is removed permanently for you.
Best practices for viewing sensitive content
- Use caution when selecting Show Evidence on a content warning if the warning is required for future sessions.
- Avoid using Show Evidence unless necessary for specific tasks.
View a single item with a content warning
From the evidence details page, on the content warning, select Show Evidence.
- The content warning is removed permanently for you but will persist for other users.
View multiple items with content warnings in review mode
- From the evidence search page, use the checkboxes next to each piece of evidence to select the items you want to open in review mode.
- Select Review.
- If any items have a content warning applied, a dialog box appears asking if you want to skip all content warnings.
- Choose one of the following:
- Skip All Warnings: All items with a content warning will have the warning removed permanently for you.
- Do Not Skip Warnings: Content warnings will remain visible while viewing the evidence. If you remove a content warning while reviewing evidence in review mode, the warning is removed permanently for you.
