Licensing

Axon Investigate is an on-premises software application that requires local download. The installer is available on MyAxon under the Installing Axon Investigate tab. Other installation

options are available for department-wide distribution or offline use. Please contact Axon for access to other installer options. Non-Axon customers, previous iNPUT-ACE users, or users requiring the pro level software may be in possession of an Axon Investigate dongle. The dongle is a hardware USB device that contains the Axon Investigate installer and the license for the software. The software can be installed on any computer, but the software will only launch if the physical dongle is plugged in.

Dongle licenses do not include third-party video support in Axon Evidence and do not allow for direct access to Axon Evidence as with the sign-in license model.

Axon Investigate is equipped with universal authentication sign-in. Axon customers should enter their agency domain and select Continue. Axon Investigate dongle users only need to select Use Local License.

There are two forms of Axon Investigate trial licenses offered. If a user is an existing Axon customer, trials are offered via the agency Customer Service Manager with the enablement of feature flags and the user is able to sign-in to the software using agency credentials. Non-Axon customers can be provided with a local trial license. If this type of trial license is issued, enter the 6-digit activation code into the designated box and select Activate.

This initial trial activation only needs to occur at the first launch and every other sign-in attempt thereafter only requires the user to select Use Local License. The initial activation using the 6-digit code places the license file for the trial locally onto the user’s computer and remains there for the length of the trial.

At first installation, the terms and conditions for Axon Investigate appear providing the user with the option to opt-out of sharing telemetry metrics, or to change the region where the telemetry data is sent. Axon gathers metrics on actions taken within the software application (download, conversions, playback etc.) but no data that can identify a specific user, following privacy and GDPR requirements for security. The terms can be accessed at any time in the application via the Help dropdown menu.
