Restrictions

The following privileges related to restrictions and restriction exceptions appear in the Restrictions privilege category.

Three restriction privileges are generated each time a new restriction type is created using the Restrictions tool:

  • Add the {restriction name} to incidents, events, and reports
  • Remove the {restriction name} from incidents, events, and reports
  • View incidents, events, and reports where the {restriction name} has been added

For example, if you create a domestic violence restriction, three corresponding privileges are generated:

  • Add the domestic violence to incidents, events, and reports
  • Remove the domestic violence from incidents, events, and reports
  • View incidents, events, and reports where the domestic violence has been added

If your agency is configured for both Axon Records and Axon Standards, any restrictions you create can be assigned to both Axon Records and Axon Standards reports, incidents, and events.
The screenshot shows the Restrictions privilege category. One subcategory is expanded, showing three individual privileges.

If you want a user or Command Hierarchy group to view information that has been restricted, but you don't want to give them access to view all information containing that restriction, you can create a restriction exception.

Two privileges related to this behavior appear at the bottom of the Restrictions category in a Restriction Exceptions subcategory:

  • Manage (add and remove) users on Restriction Exception Lists
  • View (but not manage) Restriction Exception Lists

The screenshot displays the Restrictions section with categories such as Restriction - domestic violence, Restriction - homicide case, and Restriction - special victims unit pending. The Restriction Exceptions subcategory is expanded, showing 2 of 2 privileges allowed. Within it, individual privileges include Manage (add and remove) users on Restriction Exception Lists and View (but not manage) Restriction Exception Lists, each with radio buttons for Allow (selected) or Prohibit.
