System settings
System settings in Evidence Local allow administrators to configure how the system retains data, enforces security policies, manages network resources, and schedules key operations. The System Settings page is divided into two tabs:
- Standard: The Standard tab contains settings for data retention, user passwords, interface configurations, destination transfers, evidence exports, and feature management.
- Data Indexing: The Data Indexing tab contains configuration settings for the data indexing feature, such as storage location and export interval.
When you open System Settings, the page defaults to the Standard tab.

Data indexing tab settings
Evidence and device data indexing
The Data indexing feature seamlessly exports the associated metadata of digital evidence and devices within the system. This functionality empowers you to further process or ingest the exported metadata into third-party systems, enabling enhanced data utilization.
Destination Folder: Enter a storage location path where index files will be saved. The data indexing process will not initiate if this field is empty.
Data Indexing Interval (in minutes, from 1 to 1440): Data indexing export will initiate at this interval if evidence or devices are changed. The data indexing process will not initiate if this field is empty.
