Device pooling settings

Axon Evidence Local supports device pooling settings that help organizations manage kiosk checkout behavior and assignment rules.

When device pooling is enabled, administrators can configure a minimum battery threshold for checkout, control when a camera is unassigned after docking, and enable an audible alert on assignment so officers can quickly locate the assigned camera.

Single camera assignment

Single Camera Assignment enforces that each officer can only be assigned one camera at a time from a device pool. If a user already has an active camera assignment, the checkout kiosk blocks another assignment until the previously assigned device is returned.

This restriction applies to the kiosk device-pooling workflow. Users can still assign cameras through the Axon Evidence Local or Axon Device Manager.

Show ID instead of first and last name

Organizations can hide users' first and last names in the checkout kiosk or tablet app and display the user or badge ID instead. The ID is also shown on the camera.

Configure device pooling

  1. In Axon Evidence Local, select Admin.
  2. Under Devices, select a device type.
  3. Select a device profile to open its settings.
  4. Scroll to the Device management section.
  5. Turn on Device pooling.
  6. Enter a Minimum assignable battery percentage. When this threshold is enabled, cameras below the configured battery level are blocked from kiosk checkout until recharged.
  7. Choose how an assignment is cleared when a camera is docked:
    1. Immediately after docking or
    2. After readiness check completes
  8. Optionally, enable the Audible alert upon checkout. When enabled, the camera or dock emits an audible alert so officers can quickly locate the assigned device.
  9. Select Save Profile Settings.
