ALPR and Dashboard

The ALPR tab in Fleet Dashboard shows ALPR system hit record and read record information. For details on the Dashboard app, see the user guide at the Fleet 3 product page or start with the first topic there for your operating system under Dashboard operation.

Dashboard screen layouts will differ by Dashboard platform, such as Windows (used in this guide) or Android.

When the ALPR reads a plate matching a plate number in a hotlist stored in the Fleet hub, it displays a five-second visual notification on the Mobile Data Computer/Terminal (MDC/T) and sounds an audible tone. The hit notification includes the Hotlist source and offense category.

Note When the ALPR camera is zoomed, full screen, or recording, ALPR is disabled and displays as Off on the Fleet Dashboard.

Review and mark a hit

  1. Select a notification to open the review window.

  2. Mark the plate hit as one of the following:
    Shows a plate hit window in Axon Dashboard.
    • Correct read – Confirm the hit and open the detail page with additional information from the hotlist. Fleet Dashboard automatically copies the plate text to the clipboard for pasting into your CAD system for plate/wanted reason verification.
    • Wrong state – Mark as correct plate text but incorrect state of origin. This dismisses the alert and stores the record in the hit log as wrong state.
    • Incorrect read – Mark the hit as not matching the hot list plate number. This dismisses the alert and stores the record in the hit log as an incorrect hit.
    • Dismiss – Dismiss the notification and store as an unconfirmed hit. You can review the hit later in the hit log; see Hit and read record reviews below.
  3. Review the hit details, which will vary depending on the originating hotlist.

  4. Select the action taken for this hit from the Action field.
    List the actions that can be assigned for a Hit.
  5. Select Close x at the upper-right or Dismiss to exit.

Hit and read record reviews

Review ALPR hit and read records on Dashboard's ALPR Shows the previously described button. tab.

The ALPR tab Hits sub-tab shows results captured by the user(s) logged in for the current shift. The table lists the time of the hit, the plate information, a summary of the hotlist information, and the status of the hit record.

The available statuses include:

  • Correct – Hit classified as a correct match
  • Incorrect – Hit classified as an incorrect match
  • Review – Hit dismissed
  1. Select the hit record you want to review. The detail page that displays includes the ALPR system-generated images, plate text, and hotlist information.

  2. To change the action taken for this hit, select a new Action from the dropdown list.
    List the actions that can be assigned for a Hit.
  3. Whether changing the action or not, select Close x at the upper-right or Dismiss to exit.
  4. Optionally, view a wider list of ALPR hits on the All Reads tab.
