ALPR admin

This guide provides a high-level overview of how user access and ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) permissions are managed in the Axon Fusus platform.

Overview

User account management depends on whether your agency uses a legacy Fusus environment or an Axon Managed environment.

  • In Axon Managed environments, user accounts are created and managed in Axon Evidence. These users are automatically synced into the Fusus platform.
  • In legacy environments, user accounts may be created directly in Fusus or through your organization's SSO integration.

The information in this article applies to both environments unless otherwise noted.

View ALPR-related user roles

In Fusus, you can view and inspect user assignments through the Users menu. To access this menu:

  1. In the top navigation bar, select the menu icon.
  2. Select Users. The Users menu opens.

While you can view users in the Fusus interface, all user creation and role assignment must be done in Axon Evidence. Fusus automatically syncs user access based on permissions defined in Axon Evidence. For more information, see Axon Fleet 3 Permissions.

ALPR permission groups

There are pre-populated, read-only permission groups set up in Fusus to support seamless management between Axon Evidence and Fusus. These groups are automatically updated based on the user’s assigned permissions in Axon Evidence.

They work as follows:

  • When a user has User Administration permissions in Axon Evidence, they’re added to the Fusus permission group Evidence.com Administrators [READ ONLY] after signing in to Fusus.
  • When a user has Read/Hit Record Search permissions in Axon Evidence, they’re added to the Fusus permission group Axon Fleet ALPR Viewers [READ ONLY] after signing in to Fusus. Users in this group can:
    • View LPR Hit Reason group
    • View LPR cameras
    • View LPR reads
    • Add and view LPR Read Search Reports
    • Conduct searches
  • When a user has the View Map permission in Axon Evidence, they’re added to the Fusus permission group Axon Connected Devices Viewers [READ ONLY] after signing in to Fusus.
  • If one of the Axon Evidence permissions listed above is removed from the user, they’re removed from the corresponding Fusus permission group after signing in to Fusus.

Permissions

Access to ALPR features in Fusus is controlled through permission groups that are synced from Axon Evidence. These groups determine what users can view and manage in the Fusus web application.

There are two main ALPR-related permission groups: LPR Viewer and LPR Admin.

LPR Viewer

Users in this group have read-only access to ALPR functionality. This includes the ability to:

  • View LPR Hit Reason group
  • View LPR cameras
  • View LPR reads
  • Add and view LPR Read Search Reports
  • Conduct searches

LPR Admin

Users in this group have full administrative access to ALPR features. This includes all LPR Viewer permissions, plus the ability to:

  • Add, edit, and delete LPR Hit Reason group
  • Add, edit, and delete LPR Hotlist
  • View LPR Reads
  • Add, edit, and delete LPR Hotlist Object
  • Edit LPR Cameras
  • Edit and delete LPR Read Search reports
  • Act as the default admin for incoming DOLP shares

Inviting users

In Axon Managed environments, users must be invited and managed through Axon Evidence by an Evidence.com administrator. Fusus does not support user creation or invitation directly within the application.

For information on adding users to Axon Evidence, see Adding a user.

Once a user is added and assigned appropriate permissions in Evidence.com, their access automatically syncs to Fusus.

Managing users and roles

In Axon Managed environments, user access in Fusus is controlled entirely through roles and permissions assigned in Axon Evidence.

To manage a user’s access to ALPR search and related tools:

  • Update their role in Axon Evidence to either grant or revoke ALPR-related permissions.
  • These changes automatically sync to Fusus and apply the next time the user signs in to Fusus.
