Major error

A small x can indicate faults such as those related to the weapon’s ability to store logs, communicate with the battery pack, operate the LASER module, use the Axon Signal capability, or record time correctly (resulting in invalid time in the logs). The small x may also indicate a cartridge fault, the battery charge is too low, the battery pack was removed from the TASER 7 Dock prematurely, or issues with the high voltage module, the weapon’s software, power regulation circuitry, or the motion sensor (which enables Tilt Select [Chapter 1] and other features). The energy weapon will likely still be able to deploy cartridges, and unless the issue noted in Axon Evidence states “High Voltage Module on CEW has reported an Error,” it should be able to transmit energy downrange. However, at least one of the functions listed above would be compromised.

Shift the safety switch to the down (SAFE) position. A letter X will blink for about three seconds before the weapon turns off (with firmware version 1.8.3. or higher).

Shift the safety switch to the up (ARMED) position; the fault may clear.

If the fault does not clear, remove the battery pack and insert it into a TASER 7 Dock. If the fault does not clear after the battery pack is reinserted into the energy weapon, try using a different battery pack.

If the fault still does not clear, do NOT attempt to use the energy weapon. The energy weapon may need to be repaired or replaced. Contacting Axon Technical Support at 1 (800) 978-2737 can help troubleshoot the problem to determine a potential solution to clear the fault. Otherwise, RMA the energy weapon with Major Error in the description.
