Instructor FAQ
Welcome to the Axon Academy FAQs (frequently asked questions)! This resource is for instructors, providing answers to common questions about using the platform. If your question isn’t answered here, reach out to your Axon representative for help.
How can I sign off a Learner?
- Open the Instructor Dashboard.

- Open the course the Learner is enrolled in.
- Locate the name of the Learner under Students.
- In the Sign Off Status drop-down menu, select Pass.

Can I sign off a Learner before they've finished pre-work?
Yes. You can sign off on a Learner at any time. However, certificates won't be issued and vouchers won't be consumed until the Learner has also completed their pre-work.
To avoid confusion, we recommend waiting until after the in-person session is complete before marking a Learner as passed.
How can I view the courses I'm scheduled to teach?
You can view all of your upcoming and previous courses on the Instructor Dashboard.
Upcoming courses only display when at least one learner is enrolled. If no learners are enrolled, the course will not appear.
Where can I access the training materials I need for training?
You must have an active qualification at or above the course level to view the materials. For example, TASER Instructor Qualification is required to access TASER Operator training materials, and only TASER Master instructors can access TASER Instructor materials.
Training materials are no longer hosted on MyAxon. Now, you can find the current training version and all other materials by selecting Training Materials in the Academy panel.
The list of training materials displays.
If you have any questions or need help accessing materials, contact [email protected].
Can I re-certify as an Instructor if I am expired?
Axon no longer offers separate courses for new certification and recertification. All instructors—new or expired—must complete the two-day course and online training.
Once your certification has expired, you aren't authorized to conduct training or certify others as a TASER energy weapon user.
Can I re-certify as an Instructor if I am expired?
Master Instructor
Master Instructor certification is valid for 2 years from the date of certification.
To re-certify, you must attend the full Master Instructor School in its entirety.
Apply here: https://www.axon.com/training/mis.
Instructors
Instructor certification is valid for 2 years from the date of certification.
After it expires, you are not authorized to conduct user certifications or courses of any type.
Users
User certification is valid for 1 calendar year from the date of the class.
For example, if a user was certified on March 11, 2025, their certification would remain valid through December 31, 2026.
Department policy may determine whether an expired user must complete a full certification or a re-certification course.
What are the requirements for becoming a Master Instructor?
To apply to be a Master Instructor, you must meet all of the following minimum requirements:
