Audit Log Tool
The Audit Log tool lets you audit actions taken on a report or actions performed by a user and export the information to a CSV file. If your agency is configured for both Axon Records and Axon Standards, the Audit Log Tool will display actions taken in both tools. You can open the tool from either Axon Records or Axon Standards.
To use the Audit Log Tool:
- Open the Administrator Console and select Audit Log Tool.
- Enter the From and To information in the Date Range Both fields must be completed to export a CSV file.
- To run a query for a single date, enter the same date in both the From and To The maximum date range the Audit Log Tool can search is one year.
- Entering Y auto-fills yesterday's date and entering T auto-fills today's date.
- Select the type of actions you want to audit.
- Actions Taken By: The actions taken by a user. In the User field, enter a name, username, or badge number of the user to reveal a list of matching suggestions.
- Actions Taken On: The actions taken on a report, case, incident, at a location, by a person, on a property, on a vehicle, or on a user.
- The Person field does not auto-fill suggestions. Find these IDs using Citizens search and enter the full ID into the Person field in the Audit Log Tool.
- To find IDs for these items, use Search and copy/paste the IDs into the Audit Log Tool.
Note
You cannot create a single audit log that includes information for both the Actions Taken By and Actions Taken On options.
- After choosing the actions to audit, select Export CSV. The Audit Log Tool searches for the information and creates a CSV file that downloads to your computer.
The Incident, Location, Person, Property, and User fields have a search function. Start typing, and a list of matching suggestions appears.
The Report, Case, and Vehicle fields do not have search functions.
The Audit Log CSV file is easiest to understand in a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel, but you can also open it in a text application such as TextEditor Notepad. The spreadsheet includes the following information:
- ID: The ID generated by Axon Records for every cached event
- Event: The event that was searched for
- Occurred: The date and time range for the search
- Source: Whether the source of the search results is Axon Records or Integrations (an integrated source connected to Axon Records)
- Actors: The name of the user who performed the actions listed in the search results
- Targets: The type of information that the Audit Log includes, such as User, Report, Person, Vehicle, and so on. This column does not show the contents of the search, but the actions taken on the search
- Details: The outcome of the Audit Log Tool search
