Core platform updates

Admin-only Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setting to be removed completely

In 2023, we made MFA mandatory for all organizations to help keep Axon customer accounts secure. MFA has become a strict default requirement for all customers, ensuring a robust layer of protection against unauthorized access. Some organizations were given an extension for the Admin-only MFA setting, requiring MFA only for those with certain administrator permissions. On March 5, 2026, all organizations with the Admin-only MFA setting will be switched to All users, and won’t be able to switch back.

We encourage organizations with the Admin-only setting active to prepare their users for the change and switch to All users before the cutoff and test the functionality. If the All users setting causes significant issues for your organization, contact your Axon representative as soon as possible to resolve issues or request a further extension for time to resolve them. Learn more in the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Admin Guide and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) sign-in.

Partner API updates

The Axon Evidence Partner API Guide has been updated with the changes to the Partner API. You can view the API Guide at https://developers.axon.com. If you are unable to access the API Guide site, see Accessing the Axon Developer Community.

The following changes are part of the Axon Partner API for November and December:

  • We introduced a new endpoint: Retrieve audit events by event type. This new endpoint is currently only available for customers in the US Federal, Netherlands, and Australian regions.
  • Fixed an issue with the Share a case copy request with adding invalid recipients. The endpoint now returns an HTTP 400 error if one or more recipients aren’t valid, or if more than the maximum number of recipients (20) were added.

Third Party Video Support

CCTV Converter service updates

Due to recent service degradation tied to oversized or long-running conversion jobs, Axon has made foundational improvements to the CCTV Converter service to prevent backlogs and improve stability.

New Conversion Limits:

  • Maximum zip entries: Conversion jobs now support a maximum of 10,000 files per archive. Archives exceeding this limit will fail conversion.
  • Max job duration: Conversion jobs now have a 1-hour timeout. Jobs running longer than 1 hour are automatically terminated and marked as failed.

Impacted Users:

  • Users uploading archive formats like .milestone, .pana, .ocul, (Milestone, Panasonic, Ocularis) etc. should ensure their upload packages do not exceed the new limits.
  • This applies to both historic data migrations and day-to-day uploads.

If a conversion fails, retry by selecting the Request Playback button in the Axon Evidence player. If the issue persists, contact [email protected].

Improvement

Format support enhancements

New format support and enhancements:

  • GeoVision: Added support for a new GHEC variant, integrated into our DirectShow handling pipeline for smoother playback and compatibility.
  • Milestone: Introduced support for a new .mkv format, optimized for transcription workflows in eCom environments.
  • Clip Player: Enhanced compatibility with a few new .exe variants, ensuring stable playback in more edge-case exports.
  • Pelco: Now supports a new .avi format, improving handling of exports across Pelco’s ecosystem.
  • Proprietary MP4: Added a new format handler for proprietary .mp4 files, ensuring proper decoding of previously unsupported variations.
  • HEVC in .mjp: new HEVC support for .mjp files, expanding compatibility with high-efficiency video exports.
  • exe_BAKL: Updated parser improves playback reliability and performance in this .exe export type.

Audio codec improvements:

  • Compatibility: The Standard Execution path now automatically transcodes audio when incompatible audio/video codecs are detected, ensuring uninterrupted playback and transcription.
  • Mu-law Audio: Expanded support for additional μ-law (mu-law) audio codec variants to improve playback on legacy and hybrid systems.

Coming soon

Case sharing invitation change

Currently, if you want to share a case with another organization, the partner organization you want to share with must send you a collaboration invitation and share the contacts who will be the recipients of your case share. After this release, you will instead send the collaboration invitation to the partner organization, which will request the recipient information from the partner organization.

Advanced Sharing (Early Access)

The new Advanced Sharing feature is available in Early Access and will progress to General Availability next year. This update introduces admin-defined sharing policies and an improved, streamlined workflow that enhances and secures evidence sharing between partner agencies. Advanced Sharing replaces the existing “Share by Reference” and “Share by Copy” methods with a more intuitive and controlled experience.
