Embedded Group Audit Trail

Agency admins can now view a Group’s audit history directly from the Group page, making it easier to review changes without generating and waiting for a separate PDF or CSV report. Available to all customers when released.

Locked Roles Update

The following roles are now locked and cannot be modified: Admin (requires a Pro license), Lite User (no license required), Lite Armorer (no license required), and Lite Installer (no license required). The Lite Installer role is intended for third-party installers and provides access only to the Axon Outpost Manager mobile app for Axon Outpost camera setup. Manage Devices by Group - Available August 31, 2026

Several device administration permissions now support Group-based scopes, allowing admins to delegate device management to regional and local administrators without granting access to the entire device fleet. Local administrators can manage devices assigned to their Group, while regional administrators can manage their Group and the Groups directly below them in the Command Hierarchy. Available to all customers at launch on August 31, 2026.

Partner API updates

Changes to search API pagination limits

Starting in July 2026, Axon started a phased rollout enforcing a maximum offset of 10,000 pages for API clients using offset-based pagination. Requests that exceed this limit will receive an error response. To avoid disruption, migrate to cursor-based pagination before this limit takes effect — integrations using cursor-based pagination are not affected. For guidance on migrating, see the Axon Partner API Guide.

Changes to search API rate limits

As previously announced, Axon is continuing a phased rollout of per-agency rate limits on the Evidence Search API. Agencies that exceed the limit will receive an HTTP 429 Too Many Requests response with a Retry-After header indicating when to retry. If you have not already done so, update your integrations to handle 429 responses and implement retry logic with backoff - see developer documentation here. Integrations that make high-volume or bulk search requests should use incremental, filtered queries instead of pulling large evidence collections in a single request. Contact Axon Support if you believe your workflows may be affected.

Status and Access Class are now separate columns

Status and Access Class appear as separate columns in the evidence list view, rather than combined in a single column. Suggestion mode

A new Reason for Access option, Suggestion, is now available. When you enable Suggestion mode for your organization, users see an informational banner and section message on the Evidence details page prompting them to optionally enter a reason for access. Unlike Optional and Mandatory modes, Suggestion does not block or blur the evidence player or any tabs. Users can view and use evidence normally whether or not they enter a reason.

Third-Party Video Support

Platform upgrades and expanded format support

This release includes expanded format support, bug fixes, and improved playback reliability across multiple video systems.

Expanded Format Support & Improvements

  • Panasonic / i-PRO (.n3r, .o3r): Added support for additional .n3r file variants and expanded HEVC support to .o3r files for improved playback compatibility. -
  • Milestone (.blk): Fixed an audio synchronization issue affecting playback of certain files.

Resolved issues

Infinity (.imm4 / .imm5): Files using Infinity's local-only codecs will now be detected and surfaced as unsupported rather than producing unreliable playback. These codecs cannot be converted in a forensically sound way through the cloud player. To convert these files, download the Infinity codec pack from the Axon Investigate product page on our website, then use Axon Investigate to losslessly convert them to a playable format locally.

See Third Party Video Support.

Axon App

Edit custom metadata after evidence is uploaded

From the Metadata tab, you can add, edit, and remove your organization's custom metadata fields on evidence that has already been uploaded. Changes are validated against your organization's metadata rules and recorded in the audit trail. Editing custom metadata requires the Edit Evidence permission. Standard fields (Title, ID, Categories) were already editable on Online evidence, this adds custom metadata fields specifically.

Axon Evidence

Resolved issues

  • Resolved issues: We fixed a bug on the evidence details page where adding or changing External ID and other metadata fields did not show the new values until the page was refreshed. Updated values now display immediately after save.
  • Resolved issues: We fixed a bug in the redesigned Axon Evidence where the Notes field on the evidence details page displayed multi-line notes as a continuous sentence. Notes now display with separate lines preserved as entered.

Evidence Upload XT

Resolved issues

  • Resolved issues: On Upload XT 2.16.1, XTMT and XTO fail to load the agency's custom-metadata / category definitions and exit, with the on-screen error "Unable to get custom metadata info from agency. Error occurred: Unable to get categories. Application is exiting." The Upload XT desktop app (UXT) on the same machine works normally.

Axon Performance

Early Access for the rebuilt Axon Performance data pipeline

Axon Performance is moving to a rebuilt data pipeline that corrects known calculation issues and draws on up to two years of history instead of a 14-day window, so trends and totals are more reliable. Early Access opens after the August release and adds a Performance dashboard with trend and period-over-period views, plus new device metrics including Check-Out Rate, a Devices Not Docked alert, and a per-device checkout timeline. Contact your Customer Success Manager to join Early Access and validate the new metrics before the general migration planned for September.
