Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting and Commercial Controllership (Remote)

Your Impact
As Axon’s Senior Manager – Revenue Accounting and Commercial Controllership, you will be part of a highly collaborative team which partners cross-functionally with Sales, Commercial Operations, Legal, Revenue Accounting Operations and IT to ensure proper contract and quote structuring that enables an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting close. Your Day to Day

  • Develop collaborative, responsive relationships with Sales, Commercial Operations, Legal and IT and be a primary point of contact to navigate revenue related Finance matters
  • Drive the development and coordination of a best-in-class commercial controllership organization that will support the Company’s long-term growth strategy. Manage a small team of staff and senior level accountants.
  • Review quotes to ensure proper system setup to enable appropriate revenue treatment in accordance with ASC 606
  • Own the revenue contract review process, summarizing customer arrangements with non-standard terms for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards
  • Work proactively with upstream stakeholders to impact contracting and quoting structures to limit manual backend accounting and mitigate contracts being signed that will result in negative financial results.
  • Develop an extensive understanding of Axon products and bundles
  • Research technical accounting issues for complex transactions or arrangements in accordance with ASC 606 and draft memos on key findings
  • Help coordinate new product and pricebook setups to ensure proper revenue recognition patterns
  • Bring a fresh viewpoint to help identify ways to improve the processes and efficiency as we move through a phase of rapid growth and technology change
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Work closely with Revenue Accounting Operations to ensure timely revenue close
  • Other duties that may arise

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, or ability to qualify, preferred
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in the accounting profession, revenue (ASC 606) experience a plus
  • Recent public accounting experience or revenue accounting experience with a publicly-traded company highly desirable
  • Knowledge of accounting for Multiple-Element Arrangements
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial management
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Superb attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting
  • Concern for quality and deadlines

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 109,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 194,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
