The mission as the Electronics Sourcing Engineer is to build a world-class electronics supplier network for our products that can ensure continuity of supply and scale to support demand, provide cost reduction, and anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks. You will work throughout the product development lifecycle executing strategic projects to optimize commodities, sub-commodities and individual suppliers; executing detailed projects with suppliers to implement changes and improvements affecting quality, cost, capacity, risk, and sub-supplier management and to launch new products.



What You’ll Do

  • Proactively communicate with the design engineering teams prior to and during the NPI development process to understand their current & future needs for new product components; influencing by leveraging industry experience.
  • Work with the Electronics Category Managers on sourcing decisions that are aligned with their strategies. Seek cross-functional team agreement on discrepancies.
  • Establish strong relationships with manufacturers and their associated representatives to understand product roadmaps and availability to support future product development.
  • Work with the sourcing team to develop and ramp component sources for new products and support the NPI purchasing team’s efforts to ensure components are purchased in a timely manner for the different engineering builds.
  • Lead RFX process with electronics supply base to establish costing for all electronic components.
  • Own Material Spend Reporting.
  • Assist the respective Category Managers and cross-functional category teams in developing and executing multi-dimensional commodity strategies that support the NPI work stream with an emphasis on cost optimization, time to market, technology, quality, supply continuity, supply chain consolidation, service and risk mitigation.
  • Support negotiations of Axon pricing at the component level for electronics; partner with the category managers to develop and execute negotiation strategies with new product suppliers to achieve specific targets for pricing, service, quality & delivery. Ensure supplier awards for new business are leveraged in pricing negotiations.
  • Identify and manage the implementation of cost reduction opportunities on new and existing products in collaboration with the category management and continuous engineering teams.
  • Identify risks in our current supply chain and work together with the electronics category managers, continuous engineering team and component engineer to qualify additional sources of supply for critical components on our BOM’s.
  • Assist the Electronics Category Managers & Legal teams in negotiating and executing optimal contract terms with key new suppliers.
  • Lead supplier selection process and ensure supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria for new product introduction activities to select the right supplier for the part, considering long term fit and total cost of ownership.
  • Participate in periodic business reviews with key suppliers to review supplier performance.
  • Own the development and maintenance of the approved manufacturer’s list.
  • Other sourcing and procurement related duties as business requirements dictate.


What You Bring

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, technical sourcing, and/or engineering
  • Proven success developing strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive proper rigor in supplier selection process
  • Skilled at pricing and terms & conditions negotiations
  • Work experience in a new product introduction (NPI) sourcing environment with an ability to manage rapid changes typical during the NPI development process
  • Experience dealing with electronic contract manufacturers
  • Experience with a high mix/low volume procurement environment
  • Located or willing to relocate to Scottsdale, AZ

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 75,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 125,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
