SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 7 2021 - At Axon our mission is to ensure that everyone gets home safe. With that mission in mind, Axon is proud to announce that, in collaboration with FirstNet®, it is providing the Topeka, Kans. Police Department access to the Axon Respond for Devices app, at no cost, for the next two years. This will enable the department to have access to near real-time location service and escalation alerts, through Axon Respond for Devices.
The Topeka Police Department uses FirstNet - the only nationwide, high-speed broadband communications platform dedicated to and purpose-built for America’s first responders. FirstNet is designed to improve communications across public safety entities nationwide, allowing first responders to easily and quickly communicate with one another during everyday situations, big events or emergencies.
FirstNet, coupled with Axon Respond for Devices, will continue to provide Topeka police officers with reliable, modern communications tools they need to perform at their best.
“The Topeka Police Department is very grateful to have been selected by Axon to receive access to the Axon Respond for Devices services,” said Topeka Police Lt. Manuel Munoz. “Thanks to Axon’s generous contributions, we are able to take a major step toward putting the best technology in the hands of our officers.”
Some of the challenges facing law enforcement today include limited visibility into what’s happening in the field, difficulty sharing the right information with other teams, and an inability to effectively manage units and incidents.
