Axon is pleased to announce that our project, Body Worn Cameras in Community Corrections at the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (GA DCS), has been chosen as the recipient of the IJIS Institute's 2022 Corrections Information Technology Recognition.
The Corrections Information Technology Recognition honors a team achievement for technical innovation between a solution provider and correctional agency that significantly contributes to the advancement of corrections information technology in the public sector.
This award was presented to our collective teams, GA DCS and Axon, for being pioneers for the use of Body Worn Cameras for Community Supervision agencies nationwide at the 2022 IJIS Institute National Symposium.
This recognition highlights the innovative and proactive leadership initiatives of the GA DCS. Axon would like to thank GA DCS for our continued partnership.
Under the leadership of Commissioner Michael Nail and Chief Information Officer, Phil Sellers, the GA DCS has demonstrated the utility of a best practices approach to examining and solving complex business problems with common-sense technology to replace legacy processes. With their use of body worn cameras and cloud-based technology, GA DCS is improving staff to parolee/probationer interactions and relationships, is standardizing and measuring against an evidence-based methodology for community corrections, and is continuing to develop and improve best practices for work in the field. The positive impact of this approach benefits community safety and should be considered by other agencies throughout the country. GA DCS is leading the way in leveraging technology to drive improved outcomes and the implementation of an evidence-based approach to community corrections. Their vision continues to push technological development to create further measurable impact and benefit into the future.
Awards such as this will continue to support and promote public-private partnerships that further drive innovations and improvements across public safety. The Axon team is encouraged, humbled, and honored to receive this recognition
