How to overcome training resource limitations with Axon VR

Metropolitan Nashville Police Department

Sgt. Jason Spencer has served at the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) for over 17 years. As confrontation management specialists, Sgt. Spencer and company are responsible for teaching officers community interface skills, emergency medical procedures and defensive tactics, including proper use of TASER energy weapons.

In recent years, resource constraints have limited Sgt. Spencer’s program design. Competing priorities often mean training takes a back seat to time in the field. When MNPD decided to upgrade from the TASER X26P to TASER 7, Sgt. Spencer suggested they also invest in Axon VR to bolster traditional training methods. VR solved MNPD’s major training roadblocks: limited time, space, staff and budget.
