Core platform updates

Adding more granularity to User Administration permissions

Headquarter administrators can now delegate user management responsibilities by restricting the management scope of local admins. Available in all regions for beta testing starting July 1, 2026. Customers interested in joining the beta should contact their Axon representative.

Unified Audit Trail

The Unified Audit Trail is a new centralized page in Admin Console that consolidates all audit events from every trail (Agency, Aware, CCTV, ALPR, Evidence, Cases, Devices, Groups) into one single view. Previously, administrators had to generate separate PDF/CSV reports per trail and manually cross-reference them. Now they can view, filter, and export all audit activity in one place — directly in Axon Evidence. Learn more about Unified Audit Trails.

SCIM support for Okta, Oracle, and OneLogin

SCIM Support for Okta, Oracle, and OneLogin Administrators can now use SCIM with Okta, Oracle, and OneLogin to automatically provision users and groups in Axon. This integration keeps user and group information synchronized with the identity provider, reducing manual administration and helping ensure access changes are applied consistently.

Device-based evidence group assignment

Admins can now assign devices to groups, so uploaded evidence inherits the device’s assigned group as its evidence group instead of inheriting the recording user’s evidence group. This ensures evidence remains accessible to the appropriate group users, even as users rotate. Learn more at Device-based Evidence Group assignment.

SAML single sign-out for Microsoft Entra ID

Organizations using Microsoft Entra ID for Single Sign-On (SSO) can now configure SAML Single Sign-Out (SLO). When users sign out of an Axon application, Axon also initiates sign-out from their Microsoft Entra ID session, helping prevent unintended reauthentication on shared devices. Administrators must configure the Microsoft Entra ID and Axon Admin logout endpoints to enable this behavior.

Resolved issues

  • Persistent user import results: Administrators can now return to the Import page to review the status and row-level error details from their most recent user import job, even after leaving the page. This update also fixes an issue that could display incorrect import result counts.

Partner API updates

Changes to search API rate limits

As previously announced in the May 2026 release notes, Axon is continuing a phased rollout of per-agency rate limits on the Evidence Search API. Agencies that exceed the limit will receive an HTTP 429 Too Many Requests response with a Retry-After header indicating when to retry. If you have not already done so, update your integrations to handle 429 responses and implement retry logic with backoff - see developer documentation here. Integrations that make high-volume or bulk search requests should use incremental, filtered queries instead of pulling large evidence collections in a single request. Contact Axon Support if you believe your workflows may be affected.

AuthClients pagination limit (reminder)

In the April 2026 release notes, Axon announced a future maximum offset limit for the Evidence Search API. Starting in July 2026, Axon will enforce a maximum offset of 10,000 pages for API clients using offset-based pagination. Requests that exceed this limit will receive an error response. To avoid disruption, migrate to cursor-based pagination before this limit takes effect — integrations using cursor-based pagination are not affected. For guidance on migrating, see developer documentation here.

AI-powered features

Features including the AI Era Plan tag (AI Era Plan) use artificial intelligence to provide insights, recommendations, or analysis based on available data and user inputs. These outputs may include inaccuracies, limitations, or outdated information. These tools are designed to support—not replace—professional judgment, legal interpretation, and human oversight. Users are responsible for carefully reviewing and verifying AI-powered content before acting on it. Axon continually works to enhance AI accuracy, mitigate bias, and uphold ethical standards. Axon Evidence

Axon Evidence

The redesigned Axon Evidence replaces legacy July 31, 2026

On July 31, 2026, the legacy toggle will be removed, and the redesigned experience becomes the only Axon Evidence version available. No action is required, but teams should begin using the redesigned experience as their primary workflow ahead of July 31 to support a smooth transition. If you’re interested in making the redesigned experience the default for users at your organization upon login, or switching fully before July, contact your Axon representative or Axon Support. Access transition resources, including help documentation with videos, the Admin Support Toolkit, FAQs, and side-by-side comparisons.

Multicam column in evidence search

A new Multicam column is now visible to all users on the Evidence search page. The column displays the number of linked multicam videos associated with each piece of evidence and links directly to the multicam experience in Evidence Detail. Permissions are respected, if the user does not have access to the other multicam videos, they will not see those other videos reflected in the column count, and cannot access those other videos. Users can disable the Multicam column via their Evidence search table settings. The count updates as new related evidence is ingested (a search refresh is required to reflect changes). The column is not sortable and is not available as a search filter.

Reason for access

Mandatory and optional reasons for access are now available for the redesigned Axon Evidence. This feature, when enabled requires users to input a reason before accessing the media player and certain metadata, ensuring all access is logged in the user audit trail. For more information, see Reason for viewing.

Configurable case metadata

Administrators can now create custom fields on cases to capture information specific to their organization's workflow, such as Assigned Prosecutor, Court Date, or Grant Funding Source. Field types include free text, validated text with a format rule, and dropdown lists. Two new system fields (Accused and Court Number) are also available on Axon Evidence cases, enabling these values to automatically follow cases shared with prosecutor offices via advanced sharing. Disabling a custom field does not delete existing data. For more information, see Configure custom case fields.

Lead Lock

Available in late July to AI Era Plan customers in the US, Lead Lock is an AI-powered evidence-review tool inside the Cases feature within Axon Evidence. Once enabled, Lead Lock can index supported evidence within a case (PDFs, audio, and video that can be transcribed) and provides a conversational chat interface where investigators can ask natural-language questions about their evidence. Lead Lock surfaces entities, flags inconsistencies between statements, draws connections across evidence, and cites every response back to the original source material so investigators can verify findings directly.

Lead Lock supports up to 500 cases per organization, 200 evidence items per case, and 2,000 pages per PDF. Enabling Lead Lock requires a Pro license and Unlimited Auto Transcription. Administrators grant user access through the Roles and Permissions feature, and can enable or disable Chat History and set the index retention period to 30, 60, or 90 days. All Lead Lock activity is logged in the Audit Trail. Lead Lock is available to US customers. Additional regions are coming soon.

For more information, see Lead Lock overview, Use Lead Lock, and Lead Lock disclaimers.

Consistent event rendering and newest-first sort across all audit trails

All remaining Audit Trails in Axon Evidence — Group, Device, Respond, Agency, Community (Citizen Portal), CCTV, ALPR, Performance, and Unified — now display events in human-readable, active-voice format (e.g., "User Smith, John (johnsmith) opened this Case.") and sort with the most recent event first by default. This completes the rollout begun with User Audit Trail in January 2026 and extended to Case and Evidence Audit Trails in May 2026. PDF headers, table columns, pagination, export flow, filenames, filters, and historical audit data are unaffected. No legacy format toggle will be offered.

More precise timestamps in Audit Trail PDF exports

Audit Trail PDF exports now display timestamps with fractions of a second. For example, a timestamp that previously appeared as 10:18:42 now appears as 10:18:42.000. This provides a more precise record of when each event occurred. This update does NOT change: audit events themselves, table columns, filters, export flow, filenames, or non-PDF export formats (CSV and JSON).

AI search

AI Case Search is now in early access for all Brief One users under the AI Era Plan. Spend less time searching and more time solving cases. Whether your case is a handful of files or hundreds of images, videos, audio files, and documents; AI Case Search helps you quickly find relevant evidence that contains weapons, vehicles, apparel, objects, and drug paraphernalia—reducing the time spent manually sifting through case evidence. Instead of manually reviewing large amounts of evidence, you can review ranked results that point to the evidence most likely to matter for your case. AI Case Search can help you find key moments faster and support case review, preparation, and analysis. If you'd like to join the beta, contact your Axon representative. Learn more about AI search.

Resolved issues

  • Resolved issue — Case ID filter dropdown displayed blank entries: When using the Case ID filter on the Evidence search page, blank entries appeared in the dropdown while typing a search value. The dropdown now correctly filters out blank entries as you type. This fix is specific to the Evidence search page — the Case ID dropdown on the Evidence detail page was not affected.
  • Timeline Detect People control layout: Improved layout of the Detect People control on the evidence timeline for better use of screen space.
  • Report Writer: We fixed an issue where Report Writer was not available in the redesigned Axon Evidence experience. Report Writer is now available from the top-level Draft One navigation for agencies using Draft One and under Evidence Tools > Dictation Assistant for agencies without Draft One.

Resolved issues

  • Decline button disabled after evidence is declined: In the redesigned Community Request triage, the Decline button now becomes disabled after evidence has been declined, matching the behavior in the legacy version.
  • Submitter metadata in the redesigned Evidence Details page: Some agencies reported that Community Request submitter information was not displaying in the redesigned Evidence Details Page. We fixed a bug that sometimes incorrectly showed submitter information as "Storage Disabled by Agency" when contact storage was enabled for your agency.
  • Integrations Save Settings fix: Agencies configuring third-party API clients for Community Request were sometimes unable to save the client. We fixed this and agencies should be able to save the settings.
  • Resend Invite fix: We fixed a bug with the Resend Invite functionality for Community Requests. Resend behavior now works correctly across different request states.

Third-party video support

Expanded format support and improvements

  • Liberty Player (.dcr): Improved handling of multi-channel audio recordings. Files containing multiple audio streams (such as courtroom recordings with separate channels for judge, plaintiff, defendant, and other participants) are now parsed and displayed as individual streams for forensically sound review.
  • Clip Player (.exe): Rebuilt with a new parser for improved codec support, audio handling, and playback reliability. Multiple manufacturers use the Clip Player format, and this update provides a more consistent foundation for supporting those files going forward.
  • Samsung (.bu): Added new format support.
  • Samsara (.swf): Added new format support.
  • EverFocus (.avr): Added audio support.
  • Bosch (.dxa): Improved multi-stream handling and timestamp parsing.

Mobile

Axon App

My Devices

Everything you do in Axon View is now available in the Axon App. What you can do:

  • Pair with your body-worn cameras — and switch the connection between cameras in a tap. No need to forget the current one first
  • Live View. Play back recently uploaded evidence over Wi-Fi.
  • Edit metadata.
  • Configure camera settings. Check battery, storage, and connection at a glance.

Security upgrades for Bluetooth broadcasts: the Axon App now supports randomized Bluetooth addressing on body-worn cameras — the camera's beacon address rotates regularly, making it unresolvable to outside devices, with no re-pairing required. Supported only on the Axon App, not the legacy Axon View app.

Platforms: iOS and Android

My Devices on Axon App brings full camera management into the same app officers already use for capture. Officers can pair their Axon camera over Bluetooth, access a real-time live view, configure settings, and play back or edit evidence metadata — all without switching to Axon View. Cameras reconnect automatically when back in range. Available on iOS and Android.

Security upgrades for Bluetooth broadcasts

With Firmware version 1.2619, AB4 cameras now support randomized Bluetooth addressing during interaction with Signal and other Axon devices. The camera's beacon address now rotates regularly, improving privacy without affecting existing camera connections or requiring devices to be re-paired. This upgrade is only supported once a customer has fully transitioned to the Axon app. It's not compatible with the legacy Axon View app. Once an agency hits 100% Axon app usage, Axon will enable this automatically in their instance. No additional action is needed from the customer.

Axon View

Wi-Fi Network Provisioning

  • iOS Axon View 6.10.0
  • Android Axon View 6.9.0

Axon View now lets officers provision Wi-Fi networks directly to a connected body camera from the app with no IT admin or Axon Region Discovery required. From Axon View Settings, officers can add (via SSID/password entry), view, and remove WPA2-PSK networks stored on the camera. Android users can also scan nearby networks and select from a list; iOS users enter the SSID manually. This feature is supported on Axon Body 4 and Axon Body Mini only. For more information, see Manage Wi-Fi networks on your camera.

Law enforcement, federal, and enterprise customers will receive this later this month.

Core platform updates

Assign devices to groups

Administrators can assign devices to groups in bulk with a CSV file or one at a time from device details page. This update helps organizations view and search for devices related to their own unit, and adds a Group filter in Device Inventory to make assignments easier to review. For organizations that use Evidence Groups, assigning devices to groups can also support evidence access based on the device that captured the evidence. If you would like to participate in the alpha release, contact your Axon representative. Learn more at Assign devices to groups.

Find my agency email verification

Users must now verify ownership of their email address by entering a six-digit verification code before associated agency domains are displayed. This update helps protect account security by ensuring agency information is only shown after successful email verification, while maintaining a secure way for users to recover their agency domain.

Custom Metadata

Custom Metadata for Community Request will be available in August. Agencies using Community Request will be able to enable custom fields on the create request page for agency users to populate during request creation.

Related Evidence tab in Evidence Details Page

In August, the Related Evidence tab in the Evidence Details Page will display evidence with matching Evidence ID, matching the "Also With ID" behavior in the legacy version of Axon Evidence.

Axon Justice

Justice search improvements

Axon Justice is introducing an updated search experience with parity to Axon Evidence. Upcoming changes include a redesigned filter panel, more filter options, and transcript keyword search at the case level. These improvements will be available to all Justice customers in a future release.

Cell phone data reader

Justice and Axon Evidence will soon support reading mobile device extraction files, such as those generated by Cellebrite. Users will be able to view structured data from uploaded files including media, system logs, time and location information, and an overview instead of unreadable raw data. A new dedicated page for the cell phone reader will provide an experience similar to the Axon Evidence media player.

TASER

TREND moves under TASER in Axon Evidence

Core TREND graphics include Use of Force Effectiveness, Lethal Force Aversion, and Deployments Over Time. The current TREND experience in Standards will remain available through the end of the year while additional functionality is added to reach full parity. Learn more about TREND.
