Ron and Bambi Slagle are what is referred to by professionals as a “power couple.” The Slagles have been married for over 27 years, and in that time have remained partners in all senses, from supporting each other professionally to co-coaching their local high school’s Varsity Women’s Soccer team for 5 seasons.
Bambi Slagle is currently in her 30th year as an occupational therapist. In her work, she helps people achieve independence in their home, and reach their self cafe goals through meaningful activities. Ron Slagle began his career with the Air Force, and after 8 years in active duty joined the police force, and has now been a law enforcement officer for 26 years.
Although in seemingly different professions, the Slagle’s work overlaps tremendously. Both husband and wife are experts in helping and protecting the individuals around them, and have made a living of serving others. It is this mutual desire to help those they can that drove Bambi and Ron, along with other family members, to found Honor and Respect LLC in 2018.
Honor and Respect is an on-line apparel company with the purpose of providing financial support to organizations that help first responders and military members prioritize their mental health. To date, Honor and Respect has raised over 1 million in gross sales and has sold products in 6 different countries, giving the Slagle’s hope that they can “smash the stigma” of mental illness worldwide.
“We are proud of the products carried by the business but more proud of the mission behind the shoes,” explained Ron. “We believe the Honor and Respect athletic shoes are more than just a pair of shoes, they stand for something. They stand for help, support and the most important a reminder that it is ok to ask for help and that help is near.”
